Helena Institute - Learn to Live Weekends

Helena Offers Hands-on Learning Opportunities! Discover new passions or brush up on new techniques for old hobbies at the Helena Institute. Showcase Weekends are designed to show culture lovers, history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts how to learn to live and play the Helena Way. Courses offered by the Helena Institute on these weekends emphasize a participatory learning experience - meaning field trips, studio sessions and hands-on training.

These do-it-to-learn-it activities will take you step by step through all the skills needed to learn new hobbies or perfect established crafts. Topics include cooking and food, fly fishing, photography, mountain biking, fibers and fabrics, dance and yoga, trail running, woodworking, writing, Montana history, musical instruments, art mosaics, backpacking, painting, scuba diving, paper arts and many more!

June 11 to 13
Summer in the Northern Rockies! Helena is the center of paradise during June. Take a Helena Institute course, and then join people from all over the region who convene in Helena this weekend for the annual Governor's Cup festivities.

September 10 to 12
Early fall is a perfect time to visit Helena. Most tourists are gone, leaving you to our town without the summer crowds. Warm sunny days and cool clear nights make learning experience memorable.

October 8 to 10
We stretch our Indian Summer in Helena as long as we can. It's a perfect learning environment, and your stroll after fine dining on Helena's historic downtown walking mall will refresh you for the next day.

November 12 to 14
Montana, cold? Not nearly as cold as you'd think, especially before Thanksgiving. And our courses will warm up your appetite for learning. And shopping in Downtown Helena gives you a great head start on the holidays.
